Islamic Relief Worldwide is disappointed to learn of Aktion Deutschland Hilft’s decision to forgo the membership of Islamic Relief Deutschland. We endorse the statement issued by our colleagues in Germany and share their commitment to continuing this work without interruption. Their voice speaks for the entire Islamic Relief family.
Statement from Islamic Relief Deutschland:
Today, Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH) decided to terminate the membership of Islamic Relief Germany.
We note this decision with regret.
Over the past years, we have made every effort to work together with our partners within ADH to find a constructive and mutually acceptable way forward. We therefore regret today’s decision all the more.
We also take note that ADH’s public statement explicitly confirms that this decision is not related to the quality or effectiveness of our humanitarian work. We welcome this acknowledgement and are grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside our partners in delivering humanitarian assistance in Germany and around the world over many years.
Over recent years, Islamic Relief Germany has implemented extensive measures to further strengthen its governance structures and has undergone numerous audits, reviews and due diligence processes.
These examinations have found no evidence of financial misconduct, misuse of charitable funds or violations of applicable law. At the same time, they have confirmed high standards of transparency, accountability and humanitarian practice. Our commitment to these principles remains unchanged.
As part of the global Islamic Relief family, we work alongside governments, United Nations agencies, faith-based organisations and civil society partners to support vulnerable communities in more than 40 countries, regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender.
This year, Islamic Relief Germany marks its 30th anniversary. Over the past three decades, the organisation has grown to become one of Germany’s leading humanitarian charities. The trust placed in us by our supporters extends far beyond the Muslim community and brings together people from diverse backgrounds in a shared commitment to helping those most in need.
Regardless of this decision, Islamic Relief Germany will continue its humanitarian work in Germany and around the world without interruption. Our commitment to supporting people in need, regardless of their origin, religion, nationality or beliefs, remains unchanged.
We extend our sincere thanks to our supporters, partners, staff and volunteers for their continued trust and dedication.
