Scams and fraud
Islamic Relief often appeals for funds to support our ongoing projects or help us respond to new emergencies, and we are thankful for our supporters who generously respond.
Unfortunately, sometimes people who have no connection to Islamic Relief use our name and logo to fraudulently try to raise their own funds. Other scammers may pretend to be Islamic Relief to try and obtain people’s personal or financial information.
We try to do everything we can to stop this, but this is not always possible. If you see or receive any request for money that you believe may not be genuine, please do report it to us by contacting https://islamic-relief.i-sight.com/portal.
Here are some recent examples:
Gaza
Aid Gaza
During the ongoing Gaza crisis we have been made aware of a site called “Aid Gaza”, which claims to be an “Islamic Relief initiative”. This is an independent site with no links to Islamic Relief, and we do not know where any donations made to this site will go.
Reach Out to Gaza
We are also aware of an Arabic site called “Reach Out to Gaza” that has utilised Islamic Relief branding and images. The site is a very convincing spoof site, but is not linked to Islamic Relief, and we do not know where donations made through this site will go.
You can donate to Islamic Relief’s Gaza emergency appeal here.
Uganda
There have been several social media accounts purporting to raise funds for “Islamic Relief Uganda”. Islamic Relief does not currently have any presence in Uganda and we are not raising funds there. Anything claiming to be “Islamic Relief Uganda” is not genuine. If you would like to donate to support vulnerable people in Uganda we urge you to look for other charities who have projects there, including many of our Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) partners.
This may sometimes also happen in other countries where Islamic Relief is not present. You can find a list of the countries where Islamic Relief does have projects here.
Jobs
Islamic Relief never charges any recruitment fees for job applications. If someone claiming to be a recruiter ever asks you to make a payment as part of the application process, this is not genuine. Please report this to https://islamic-relief.i-sight.com/portal.
