Thanks to our generous supporters, Islamic Relief reached more than 13 million people with impactful aid last year, reveals a new report. 

Islamic Relief has published our 2025 Global Reach, Impact and Learning Report, which reveals the difference our work has made to the lives of people affected by conflict, disasters and poverty in the last year. 

In 2025, we delivered 802 humanitarian and development projects in 41 countries. These projects directly supported more than 13 million people and benefited a further 18 million people indirectly. 

The report includes data on the types of support we provided, the people it reached, and the impact it had. It includes learning that shows which approaches worked best and why, or why not – reflecting our commitment to continuously improve our impact and ensure that funds are used most effectively.  

Some projects included in the report:  

• In Afghanistan, girls face multiple barriers to education, but our AGE project has worked with local elders and faith leaders to come up with solutions and shift community attitudes. By training female teachers and establishing learning centres closer to people’s homes, we enrolled more than 6,000 girls in school. Of these, 90% completed their year and progressed to the next grade.  
• In Mali, our innovative Qurbani Plus approach equips women living in rural areas with livestock ownership, agricultural expertise, and Islamic microfinance. Their average monthly income has almost tripled – improving their quality of life and their children’s nutrition and education.  
• In the Philippines, our project to improve water and sanitation access in schools not only reduced diseases in the community but also increased student attendance by 30%.   
• In Iraq, where youth unemployment is high, we have worked with universities and the private sector to provide young graduates with training on AI, digital marketing and business innovation, equipping them with expertise for the rapidly changing job market. 73% of participants secured employment within 3 months as a result.  

The report highlights numerous lessons for ensuring sustainable impact – from the importance of building trust and ownership with local communities, to how women’s empowerment is crucial for tackling poverty and malnutrition. It covers learning and reflections from a wide range of Islamic Relief’s projects, from climate adaptation and healthcare to livelihoods and child protection.  

It also shares examples of how our programmes are tailored to meet the specific needs of vulnerable communities, such as people with disabilities and marginalised women and girls. 

The publication of this report is just the most recent step in our journey of continuous learning and improvement. We’re committed to making sure that every penny we spend has a positive impact on people’s lives. We invest in assessing our results and learning from our experiences because we want to understand what works and what doesn’t – so that we can shape future projects to maximise the impact we have and ensure that it lasts.
