Each Ramadan, Islamic Relief staff and volunteers around the world distribute food parcels to those in need. This year, when many families are struggling with rising food prices, our Ramadan parcels help to ease their burden during the holy month.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing photos from our offices around the world, showing how Islamic Relief supports communities during Ramadan.
More than 11,000 families in Afghanistan, including vulnerable families, widows, orphans, elderly people and people with disabilities, have received food parcels from Islamic Relief this Ramadan.
Our distributions have taken place in Kabul, Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktika, Balkh, Bamyan and Herat provinces.
The food packs contain essential items such as wheat, pulses, oil and salt.
In Ethiopia’s Oromia region, we have distributed more than 1,000 food packs to villages and communities this year.
As well as Oromia, distributions are also ongoing in the Addis Ababa, Afar, and Somali regions.
The food packages contain staples such as wheat, flour, split lentils, rice and cooking oil.
This Ramadan, we’ve distributed over 100 parcels to families in need in Kosova’s Obilic municipality.
Among the families who received food parcels were orphaned children, many of whom also receive support through Islamic Relief’s Orphan Sponsorship Programme.
The food packs include food staples as well as items that can be used in many recipes including vegetables, beans, tea and milk.
