Islamic Relief has distributed over 9,100 Ramadan food packs to vulnerable people in Yemen.
Targetting people based on their vulnerability to food insecurity, the distribution covered the governorates of Sana’a, Aden, Abyan, Sa’ada, and Hodeida. Orphaned children, disabled people, displaced families as well as Syrian and Somali refugees were amongst those to benefit.
“Since I fled my home in Amran fourteen days ago, I have been buying food from restaurants,” said Fuad Saeed, 40, who is currently seeking safety in Sana’a. “This is difficult to afford as I have five children to feed.”
Each family received rice, cooking oil, and 25 kg of flour as well as sugar and dates.
“Islamic Relief is the first INGO to provide food to us. It is a sign of care and humanity.”
The distribution was carried out by Islamic Relief Yemen with the cooperation of local NGOs.
Islamic Relief is working in poor communities worldwide to provide families with relief from hunger and joy during the blessed month. With your support, we can reach even more: Please donate to our Ramadan Appeal today.
