Islamic Relief is appalled at today’s horrific stabbing attack on two Jewish men in London and we condemn the rise in antisemitism in the UK and around the world.
Iftikhar Ahmad Shaheen, CEO of Islamic Relief Worldwide, said:
“Our hearts are with the victims, their families and the Jewish community at large. As a faith-based organisation, we feel this tragedy deeply and we stand in solidarity with our Jewish friends and partners. Nobody should ever be targeted for their faith, and we strongly condemn antisemitism in all its forms.
“At this time of rising hatred around the world, silence is not an option. We must be united against those who seek to divide us, and we must be unequivocal in condemning attacks on every community and faith.
“At the heart of Islamic Relief’s work is the sacred Qur’anic principle that to save one life is to save all of humanity. It is a teaching that knows no boundaries of religion or background, and it speaks of the sanctity of every human being, without exception. In that spirit, the attack on the Jewish community is an attack on all of us.”
Islamic Relief Worldwide is a global humanitarian charity, founded and based in the UK, and working in more than 40 countries.
