Islamic Relief has been recognised as one of top humanitarian organisations in Sudan for its contributions to vulnerable communities impacted by the long running crisis.
Awarded by the People’s Association in cooperation with the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, Islamic Relief Sudan received the honour at the Thank You, Messengers of Humanity event held in Port Sudan that celebrated the work of numerous Sudanese organisations.
Speaking on behalf of all the organisations recognised, Elsadig Elnour, Country Director for Sudan, emphasised that the honour reflects the gratitude of the Sudanese people who continue to uphold the values of loyalty and appreciation, despite the harsh conditions they are living in.
Elsadig highlighted Islamic Relief’s contributions to the education and health sectors, as well as spotlighting infrastructure projects that cover access to water, electricity, and shelter support. He further affirmed that humanitarian organisations are working under extremely challenging conditions yet remain committed to reaching those most in need in hard-to-reach areas, while strictly adhering to humanitarian principles and the ICRC Code of Conduct.
Islamic Relief has been working in Sudan since 1984 and has been a lifeline for communities in Sudan since the conflict began 3 years ago, reaching more than 2 million people with lifesaving aid.
