Islamic Relief has begun assisting people affected by heavy rainfall in Nepal.
Local authorities report that at least 236 people have died and over 20,000 people have been displaced across 20 districts. More than 16,200 families have been impacted.
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams reach more remote areas and rains continue.
Roads and sanitation have been significantly affected by the incessant rain, which began last week.

Islamic Relief staff distribute food packs to affected families in Rajpur municipality, Rautahat
Over 6,000 families have been impacted in the districts of Rautahat, Sarlahi, and Mahottari – where Islamic Relief already has a presence – with many still stranded without shelter, safe water or food. Displaced families are sheltering in community buildings, neighbouring homes and makeshift shelters.
Islamic Relief is providing food packs and other essentials, such as mosquito nets, to affected families. The food packs provide enough food for a family for 15 days and include rice, lentils, cooking oil and soya beans. So far, our aid has reached 1,299 families affected by the crisis.
