Heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc in Pakistan, with the downpour causing widespread flooding across the country. Heavier than usual rainfall has been reported in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, causing widespread issues in all areas.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has confirmed that nearly 179 people, including 92 children, have died as a result of the flooding across Pakistan. Another 315 people have been injured.
The floods have damaged more than 2,200 houses, as well as schools, bridges and roads.
The government of Pakistan and local authorities are actively engaged in rescue operations and the establishment of relief camps in affected areas.
With the rains forecasted to continue, weather alerts remain in place.
