Eid Mubarak to our amazing supporters, volunteers, colleagues and partners around the world. Thanks to your generosity and dedication, we are putting smiles on around 3 million faces this Eid al-Adha.
Every Eid al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice a goat, sheep, cow or camel – or pay to have one slaughtered on their behalf – with meat from the animal given to those less fortunate. Qurbani honours the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah, who in an act of mercy sends a ram to be sacrificed instead.
From Gaza to Yemen, Bangladesh to Syria, in 29 countries our qurbani programme is freeing families from worrying about how they will eat this Eid.
“Unfortunately, global hunger is rising faster than ever but you are all responding with love and generosity,” says Waseem Ahmed, who marks his first Eid as Chief Executive of Islamic Relief Worldwide.
“With your support, Islamic Relief is distributing around 175,000 qurbanis while taking every Covid safety measure to protect our teams and communities. For every smile on every face, a huge thank you.”
Jazakallah Khair and Eid Mubarak to you and your loved ones.
