Olive trees are a powerful symbol. For displaced people, they can also be a lifeline.
Islamic Relief is raising funds for projects to provide olive trees to vulnerable families in Lebanon and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In Lebanon, the project will provide olive trees to Palestinian refugees and internally displaced people. By donating, you can help to empower families to improve their income and maintain their cultural roots.
For years, Lebanon has been engulfed by economic crisis, which has only deepened as the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing Israeli bombardment places more strain on families. Some refugee communities have faced further displacement and are struggling to make ends meet.
Through this project, 100 families in Bekka and Baalbeck will receive olive trees, which they can use to boost their income and improve their diet. Through olive tree cultivation, families can produce and sell a number of products including olive oil, soap and pickled olives for local, regional and global markets.
This project will:
- make sure families have a steady source of food over time
- make it easier for displaced people to cope when problems happen
- help protect the environment for the future
- contribute to keeping Palestinian culture and traditions alive.
In the Occupied Palestinian Territory, families will receive olive trees, which they can use to boost their income and improve their diet. Olive tree cultivation plays a major economic role for Palestinians, who produce olive oil, soap and pickled olives for local, regional and global markets. By donating, you will enable Palestinians to grow trees – and hope for the future.
Allah tells us in the Qur’an that the reward of spending in charity is like:
A grain of corn which grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains.
