In 2025, Islamic Relief used your zakat donations to relieve the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable people. With your zakat, we supported widows in Syria, improved access to clean water in Gaza, Sudan and Kenya, established health centres in Lebanon, and so much more.
Islamic Relief has been trusted to deliver zakat donations since 1984 and is one of the longest-serving Muslim charities in the UK.
Your zakat is our amanah. We are accountable to you, to the communities we serve, and, ultimately, to Allah.
We are active in over 40 countries, and, for decades, have been responding to major emergencies – delivering food, water and other survival items to people in desperate need – as well as supporting families to improve their quality of life, and campaigning on important issues.
In 2025, we helped to change the lives of tens of thousands in 30 countries around the world, all thanks to your generous donations and support.
Here, we share some examples of how your zakat is uplifting vulnerable communities.
Gaza
Since October 2023, most families in Gaza have been displaced multiple times, with extreme shortages leaving them struggling to find food, shelter, and even safe drinking water.
Your zakat supported people in desperate need in Gaza, enabling Islamic Relief and our partners to provide hot meals to 133,521 families, more than 43,817 food parcels and vouchers, and 252,208 baskets of fresh vegetables.

We delivered 57,305 cubic meters of clean drinking water to shelters. And provided 7,561 bedding materials and over 30,000 items of clothing to bring some comfort and warmth to displaced families.
We ran counselling sessions for 45,868 children and adults to help them process the mental and emotional trauma of the last 2 years.
We also supported children by establishing 18 temporary classrooms, which gave over 2,600 students some semblance of routine and the promise of a future.
Lebanon
Your zakat has helped to bring relief to crisis-affected populations in Lebanon, following Israel’s bombardment of the region and continued ceasefire violations since November 2024.
With over 7,000 people injured since October 2023, Islamic Relief has worked with Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health to establish 6 primary healthcare centres.
We have also supported efforts to improve access to clean water by helping to repair the Masna water network and rehabilitating the Chaat water station in Bekaa.
We also provided 1,000 clothing vouchers to people in need, enabling them to buy the items they need most.
Sudan
In Sudan, we provided cash to 415 internally displaced families in Blue Nile state, reducing hunger and starvation in the region by enabling families to buy what they need most.

To help address water access and sanitation issues, we built 14 communal latrines, which have served 685 displaced families.
We worked to further reduce the risk of disease by hiring a water technician to ensure daily chlorination monitoring. Keen to improve safety conditions for women and children, we also installed solar-powered lighting in 38 latrines.
Kenya
Residents of Wedesa village had to walk 20 kilometres to fetch water from a water pan (a man-made trough used for collecting water), which often dried up in the summer. In another village, Kumbi, residents had to walk 5 kilometres.
Your zakat helped to transform community members’ lives by building of 2 new boreholes in Wedesa and Kumbi, serving over 700 families.
Your generosity also improved access to education in Kenya. Students at Adele and Bangale primary schools are enjoying improved classrooms thanks to 350 new desks, which can seat 1,050 pupils.
We also helped to increase the attendance of 600 female students by providing them with dignity kits, containing materials such as soap and sanitary pads, enabling girls to stay comfortably in school without missing out on learning.
Syria
Despite major political change, the humanitarian situation in northern Syria remains catastrophic after 14 years of crisis, which has decimated the healthcare system and caused severe economic collapse.
In 2025, we used your zakat to provide over 700 displaced widows with a monthly stipend of approximately £131 to meet their most pressing needs.

Aide, a mother of 3 who was forced to flee the bombing of her hometown, is one of the women your donations has supported. Her family eventually settled in Al-Tawhid camp in northern Aleppo.
Aide struggles with epilepsy, and can afford the medication to help manage her seizures thanks to the monthly stipend.
While the family remains displaced, your support means they have been able to slowly rebuild their lives, purchasing food as well as blankets and school supplies for the children.
In 2026, millions across the world remain in dire need as crises continue and the need for humanitarian aid remains great. Zakat is our sacred duty — donate today to create ease for your brothers and sisters across the globe.
