Islamic Relief and the Embassy of Qatar in London join hands to support vulnerable communities in the UK during Ramadan
The Embassy of the State of Qatar in London has partnered with Islamic Relief to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan. The collaboration strives to aid families facing hardship in the UK.
The Embassy of the State of Qatar and Islamic Relief will provide a Ramadan food drive which will distribute food parcels and cooked meals across the UK for the duration of the holy month. The holy month of Ramadan reminds us to extend a helping hand to those in need, as such the collaboration aims to support people who have been struggling to feed themselves and their families.
Food will be delivered through 18 of Islamic Relief’s partners such as local organisations, food banks, mosques and football club foundations from London to Edinburgh. Partners include: Kokni Muslim Association, East London Mosque, Newham community Project, Sufra, City Retreat, Himmah Luton Foodbank, Association of Scottish Muslims – Blackhall Mosque, Give a gift, Finsbury Park Mosque, Liverpool FC Foundation, and Renaisi.
As part of the collaboration between the Embassy of the State of Qatar and Islamic Relief, an open iftar will be hosted on April 6 with the assistance of Liverpool Football Club Foundation.
Tufail Hussain, director of Islamic Relief UK stated:
“Poverty in the UK has been exacerbated by years of cost-of-living crisis, and families are struggling more than ever to put food on the table. It is imperative more than ever to come together as a community and support one another.”
“To alleviate the challenges people have been facing, the Embassy of Qatar and Islamic Relief will work together to reach even more struggling families here in the UK this Ramadan.
“Charity is a major part of the Islamic faith, and Ramadan is the time when we see this huge outpour of support for others. We look forward to collaborating with the Qatari embassy to help make a difference.”
