Serious conflict in western Niger has taken the lives of 100 people, left 25 with injuries and forced hundreds to flee their homes. Communities from the villages of Zaramdareye and Tchamo-Bangou in the region of Ouallam have fled to Mangaizé, which is almost 80km away from their homes.
These families urgently need food and shelter, as well as water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
Islamic Relief already has a presence in Oullam, and we are working closely with other humanitarian organisations to coordinate the most effective response.
We are preparing to launch an emergency intervention to provide displaced families with access to clean water and hygiene kits, prioritising support for the most vulnerable members of the community. We will also be providing livelihoods support to affected families in the coming months.
Islamic Relief has been helping vulnerable people in Niger since 2005, and with your help we can continue our lifesaving work in the country and beyond. Please donate to our Global Emergencies Fund.
