Cancer is a global killer.
World Cancer Day (4th February) is the international day to raise awareness of cancer, and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
According to the World Health Organization itis one of the leading causes of mortality in the world, claiming millions of lives every year. Available data from over 100 countries shows that 300,000 children every year are diagnosed with cancer every single year. There are 80,000 deaths from childhood cancer worldwide.
Islamic Relief (IR) has been serving humanity for 34 years. Not only do we help those in disaster zones and crisis situations, we also provide medical care in multiple forms. One of our major projects in South Africa is with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital (NMCH). We recognise that regardless of where you are, every child has the right to quality treatment leading to Islamic Relief funding the Oncology Unit at the NMCH.
IR has delivered a donation of $7.7 million to help create a state-of-the-art facility whose services are desperately needed. The NMCH’s ideals mirror those of IR, we both aim to help those who are vulnerable and in need – regardless of race or religion.
We believe that access to quality healthcare is a universal human right. We would expect nothing less for our family and friends. Help fight childhood cancer with IR, your donation could save lives.
