Islamic Relief is supporting civil society organisations to adapt to the key challenges facing the sector today – so even greater impact is achieved for the world’s most vulnerable people.
We participated in an International Civil Society Centre workshop held in Berlin last month. The three-day session saw our CEO working with representatives from think tanks, business and government as well as other leading civil society organisations.
Dr Mohamed Ashmawey, CEO, said: “Trends and issues such changing attitudes, the availability of funding and the development of information technology mean that civil society organisations must be ready to operate in a fast changing, unpredictable world.
“Organisations can strengthen their position by ensuring they have a diversified business model, as well as sharing and reducing risk by working with others.
“Islamic Relief is already working harder than ever before to innovate, to engage with our donors and to communicate the breadth and depth of our impact – and I believe that this must be a priority for all civil society organisations.”
Islamic Relief is co-owner of the influential International Civil Society Centre (ICSC). The ICSC applies business efficiency to civil society tasks, supporting Islamic Relief and organisations such as Amnesty, Oxfam, and the WWF to share knowledge and experience, and to initiate collective action.
