Misr El Kheir Foundation (MEK) and Islamic Relief Worldwide have officially signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on critical humanitarian and development projects aimed at serving vulnerable communities in Gaza and Egypt.
The signing ceremony in Cairo was attended by the British Ambassador to Egypt, HMA Gareth Bayley, and the Egyptian Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Civil Society, Dr Ayman Abdel Mojoud, underscoring the importance of this partnership in fostering international collaboration and addressing pressing humanitarian challenges.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to alleviating suffering and empowering individuals in need. The projects will benefit Egyptians, as well as Palestinians residing in Egypt, and will focus on addressing the urgent and long-term needs of the targeted communities.
Key areas of collaboration
The MoU outlines a range of impactful initiatives designed to address pressing challenges and contribute to sustainable development, including:
Seasonal programmes: Providing vital support during key periods such as winterization, Ramadan, qurbani, and back-to-school campaigns.
Orphan sponsorship: Ensuring the well-being and development of orphaned children through sustained care and support.
Education: Enhancing access to quality education for underprivileged children and youth.
Health: Supporting healthcare services to improve the overall health and resilience of affected communities.
Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
This partnership aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- Goal 1: No Poverty – Addressing poverty by meeting the basic needs of vulnerable populations.
